I drove past a really cool plant nursery the other day. Unfenced and openly accessible to everyone. This time of the year they use many of their fields to grow fresh crisp salad. All kinds of lettuce, green and red, with smooth leaves and frizzy ones. So I decided to dedicate my Saturday to go back and capture the harvest before it gets onto the shelves in the local shops.
All my camera batteries charged, a range of lenses packed, the weather forecast checked to bring proper clothing … and off I went. The moment I set foot on the soil, I realized I forgot THE most essential thing (well, second most important after the camera itself). Slipping and sliding to find a good frame to start with, without accidentally stepping on any of the precious plants, my trainers sank in ankle-deep into the mud.
I FORGOT MY WELLIES!
I spare you a picture of my shoes, you can wash them after all. Instead, let me show you some of the pictures I managed to capture. After some rain earlier that day the sun came out exactly at the right moment, bathing the scenery in warm evening light. Don’t ever let the weather keep you from going out … but remember to bring the right shoes 🙂
